The Independence Day celebrations of 2024 at Silver Hills Public School, Kozhikode, were held with great patriotic fervour on 15th August 2024. The event was marked by a variety of activities that instilled a sense of national pride and respect for the freedom struggle.
The event was graced by Col Navin Benjeet, the head of the Madras Regiment, who served as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, Col Benjeet highlighted the importance of the freedom struggle and emphasised the need for national unity in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty. He spoke passionately about the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and reminded everyone that the preservation of our hard-earned freedom depends on collective responsibility, patriotism, and unity.
Lt. Col. Chandra Prakash Singh, 29 Kerala Battalion, NCC Malappuram was the chief guest during the independence day celebration at the KG section.
The program was presided by Fr Augustine K Mathew CMI, Manager of Silver Hills Public School. He reflected on the school’s role in shaping responsible citizens and emphasised the need for young minds to remember the lessons of the past as they prepare for the future.
Fr Mathew Kalappurayil CMI, Principal of Silver Hills, addressed the students and guests with a stirring message about the value of freedom and the importance of moral responsibility. He encouraged the students to be proud of their heritage and contribute positively to society. Ms Aditi Chatterjee, the school’s academic coordinator, followed with an inspiring speech that focused on the youth’s role in maintaining the unity of the nation.
The celebrations featured a variety of performances and displays of skill. One of the most anticipated segments of the day was the acrobatic and military skills show performed by soldiers of the Indian Army. The audience was thrilled to witness the precision and agility displayed by the army personnel, showcasing the discipline and physical prowess required in military service.
Adding to the excitement was a skating performance by the students of Silver Hills, who had been trained by the school’s Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) trainer, Mr. Arjun. The students displayed incredible talent and balance, earning loud applause from the audience. The coordination and skill demonstrated by the students during their skating routines highlighted the dedication they put into their training.
The nation’s 78th Independence Day celebrations at Silver Hills Public School were not only a reflection of the school’s commitment to honouring the nation’s history but also a reminder of the responsibilities that lie ahead for the younger generation. The combination of speeches, performances, and displays of skill made the event a memorable one, fostering a deep sense of patriotism among the students and attendees.
The day ended with the singing of the national anthem, a fitting tribute to the spirit of independence and unity.
