Cleanliness Should Be a Part of Daily Life: Union Minister Suresh Gopi



Mr. Suresh Gopi, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Tourism,  emphasized that both mental and environmental cleanliness are crucial for a country to develop into a welfare state. He asserted that raising awareness about cleanliness must become an integral part of daily life.

Mr. Gopi made these remarks during the inauguration of the 'Swachhta Pakhwada' campaign, organized by the Ministry of Petroleum as part of the central government's 'Swachh Bharat' initiative. The event took place at Silver Hills Public School in Kozhikode.

"The 'Swachh Bharat' project is a priority within Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comprehensive vision, steering the country towards a new development trajectory. The sustainability of our nation hinges on cleanliness and environmental protection. The Swachhta Pakhwada initiative inspires and drives efforts toward a clean and healthy India, offering every citizen the chance for sustainable development and an improved quality of life," explained Mr. Gopi. He praised Silver Hills Public School for its exemplary model, achieving 100% academic success, state-level excellence in arts, and maintaining a completely plastic-free campus.

The audience enthusiastically received Mr. Gopi's pledge to join Silver Hills students in cleaning Kozhikode Beach in the upcoming Chingam month. The minister also led the Swachhta pledge and participated in a tree planting ceremony.

Kozhikode MP Mr. M.K. Raghavan presided over the event, with Thottathil Raveendran MLA delivering the keynote address. District Collector Snehil Kumar IAS, Bharat Petroleum State Head Ramesh Kumar K.V., BPCL State General Manager Rajan M., and Silver Hills Public School Principal Fr. Mathew Kalappurayil CMI also spoke on the occasion.

During the inauguration, cleanliness kits were distributed to campus sanitation workers and ayahs. Additionally, Bharat Petroleum provided tree seeds to all students of Silver Hills Public School. Fr. Mathew Kalappurayil explained that, under the school's 'Grandparent Tree' project, the saplings and seeds presented by Mr. Gopi would be planted and nurtured by students at their homes in honor of their grandparents.

The program concluded with an outstanding dance performance by the students of Silver Hills Public School.
